The challenge
The GeoGA team provided log-based metrics and analysis to client teams across Tokyo, Mountain View, and Sydney. Its documentation site was poorly maintained, some articles were out of date, and clients struggled to find reliable information.
What I did
Organized content by audience
I separated the needs of new clients, experienced users, and the internal team, giving each audience a clearer starting point.
Built a task-oriented structure
I migrated useful content and organized it into four themes: Logging, Metrics, Analysis, and Experiments. I turned descriptive pages into how-to articles and user journeys.
Planned for ongoing maintenance
I introduced freshness checks and documentation fixits, then used studies and surveys to assess the documentation experience.
The outcome
The new structure made information easier to find, especially for new clients. Engineers and analysts spent less time explaining tools, data sources, and procedures that readers could now find in the documentation.
“The documentation on our GeoGA website is very good, much better than in previous years, detailed, clear, and organized in an easy-to-understand way.”
